Brief Summary: The story took head in December around Christmas.It was a lady bring out capital of Arizona. She was determined to walk a long path by the woods to get to town. phoenix came upon many obstacles along her way. At first, a torn bush got caught in her dress, then she had to go through a barbed-wire fence. Phoenix Jackson often talked to herself so she wouldnt feel alone. On her long path she went through a tall field of dead corn, there she was frightened by a scare line-shooting, but she laughed it off and danced a scare crow to calm her cumulation. Phoenix was walking beside the road when a dimmed dog came up out of the weeds beside the ditch and excite Phoenix.A young hunter finally came along and found her. As you can see, Phoenix Jackson was not self- centered. She was determined to go to town for her grandson no matter what she had to go through or how far it was to get there. Even though Phoenix was frightened , she did not give up. If she was self-centered she would of took the ten cents she had and bought something for herself. Since it was only her and her grandson, Phoenix did not have anyone to do anything for her. She had to be strong and involuntary to do for herself and her grandsonWhen the hunter was not looking Phoenix reached down and picked up the nickel and put in into her apron pocket.
She matt-up like she was stealing. The hunter and his dog chased away the swarthy dog that scared Phoenix and shot at it. When he got back he lifed the throttle and pointed it at Phoenix. The hunter asked her if the gun scared her.
