Carl Rogers was born on January 8, 1902 in Oak Park, Illinois. His father was a civil engineer and his mother stayed at home as a housewife. Carl originally went to the University of Wisconsin as an agricultural major. Then later he switched to religion to study for the ministry. He was selected to go to Beijing to find out the World Student Christian Federation Conference for six months.
While he was there many of his new experiences broadened his intellection and he started to doubt some of his religious views. After, he began care the Union Theological Seminary, his career as a take care was brief. In 1931, Rogers received his PH.D in clinical psychology at Columbia University. Carl had already begun his clinical work at the Rochester conjunction for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children while still working on his doctorate.
