Life in the 1960s was real diverse from the time we live in now. There was requisition in every public place and even in the whites homes if they had maids. In The Helps picture of the sinister maids and white women of the 1960s, the white women were superior over the caustic maids. The white women hired the black maids to do their work, such as cooking, cleaning and pickings care of their children. Most black women hold on school to work so they could support their families. There were around black maids who felt that the discrimination was wrong and rebelled and wrote a hold in on the experiences in the whites home. Even though the stakes were high knowing the consequences they still wrote the book. However, the white women had different types of expectations. The expectations brought upon the white women were not as much of their expectations but their mothers expectations of them. The mothers pass judgment them to go to college and find a husband worthy of marrying and to begin children with. Not many women went against their mothers expectations but in rare cases, such as Miss Skeeter, some women refractory to do what they wanted. There lies a distinct difference betwixt the two races.

The Black women in the home were told what to do by their white employers. They held line of businesss such as cooking, cleaning and taking care of the white children. They did not have control of their have lives, their white superiors gave them orders on what to do all day and they did not have much time to themselves to do what they wanted.
