Rupert Brooke, the son of a housemaster at Rugby School, was born on 3rd August, 1887. In 1906 he won a cognition to Kings College, Cambridge. While at university he joined the Fabian Society. He was raised in a high class family, Brooke was mandatory to fight in World War I, but he did not fight much.
Other members at Cambridge at the cartridge clip included: Hugh Dalton, Clifford Allen and Amber Reeves. During this period Brooke met several leaders of the consummation including George Bernard Shaw, Beatrice Webb and Sidney Webb.
Brooke began writing poetry and during the next few years had dickens collections of verse publi disgorge Poems (1911) and Georgian Poetry (1913). Brooke had a noetic breakdown and in 1913 decided to tour the US, Canada and the Pacific.
On the eruption of the First World War Brooke joined the Royal naval Division and in October 1914 took part in the Antwerp expedition. After this check he wrote several poems including, Peace, Safety and The Soldier.
In February 1915 Brooke sailed on the Grantully castling for the Dardanelles. While on board he developed cutting blood poisoning and although transferred to a hospital ship died on 23rd April 1915. Rupert Brooke was buried on the Greek island of Skyros.
