Masaccio was a Renaissance artist that developed greatly throughout his lifetime. Masaccio learned much from his teacher known as, Masolino da Panicale. Masaccio had a calm, monumental style, that he was blessed with from Giotto, since Masaccio was his artistic descendant. This was mixed in oils for the main altar in Santa Maria glory lily dei Frari in Venice. This art depicts the glorious ascent of the virgins body to heaven on a great uncontaminating cloud. The golden clouds seem to glow and radiate light into the church. Titian won renown for the ability to convey light through color.

Jan Van Eyck was the first painter from the Netherlands to arrive at international fame. The artist moved his studio to Bruges in 1425, since he became the court painter of Philip the Good, duke of Burgundy. Eyck completed an important altarpiece in 1432. The Ghent Altarpiece.
