I decided to explore the ever-growing entreaty of Channel 4’s current set of idents conceived by creative director Brett Foraker. I take hold collected luxuriant information and thoroughly analysed each and every one of these astonishingly intriguing idents. I have chosen theses objects, as I am a spectacular fan of TV advertising and over the years have been very interested in idents, not only from Channel 4 but also the BBC and various others, dating ass to the very first BBC ident Television Symbol, or the Bats travel(1953 - 1963). I also did a very similar sound projection in college in which I had to design my own TV station and the whole package that follows including an ident, posters, billboards and a website, my grade understandably showed a great interest into this particular argona of design.
The expression in which I am going to explore these idents is a simple answer consisting of researching the history and evaluating each video snippet I have found of the idents. I want to assay to understand and become familiar with the concept and the design process of each one, trying to place myself in the designer’s shoes.
To protagonist along with my analysis and interpretation I decided to work closely with the following writers The Truth in Advertising, written Design History: Dormer and GDNM: Motion Graphics. I am going to analyse each dent separately in order for me to cover everything as they are all so different but still all of them displays the iconic Channel 4 logo that rears its head at some point during all of these idents.
